Taxi driver shot at ‘Freedom Bar’, suspect on the run

Police are on the hunt for a suspect who shot a 30-year-old taxi driver of Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, on Friday night to his left side leg.

Police Headquarters in a report four days after the incident, revealed that the shooting took place at about 01:30hs at the Freedom Bar Night Club located along the Soesdyke Back Road.

Police Headquarters reported that the taxi driver was imbibing with friends at the bar when the suspect approached him, pulled a silver handgun from the waist of his pants and shot him.

Police said the suspect managed to escape in an unknown direction.

The taxi driver was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.
