Trio busted with $6.3M in ganja

Three men are in the custody of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) following the discovery of almost 13 pounds of marijuana at New Diamond Housing Scheme on the East Bank of Demerara on Tuesday.

A press release from CANU noted that the illegal substance has a street value of $6.3 million.

Those in custody are 42-year-old Andrew Carew known as ‘Daddo’; Rayanthony Persaud called ‘Tony’, 47, and 37-year-old Sheldon Hope known as ‘Fine man.’

CANU said it received certain information and carried out an operation in the area which led to the discovery of six parcels of cannabis.

Investigations are ongoing.
