Sister offers $1M reward for brother missing since 2019
It has been two years since Ricardo ‘Rocky’ De France was last seen and heard from and now his relatives are offering a $1 million reward for credible information about his whereabouts.
“We will give a reward of US$5,000 and I think deep down in my heart, if he is going to die and he is going to pass away, I don’t want him to rot,” Ricardo’s sister, Sophian De France told the News Room.
Sophian lives in the United States; she told the News Room that her brother is a drug addict and she strongly believes that something tragic has happened to him.
Ricardo migrated to the US when he was a young boy but was deported in 2001.
According to Sophian, she has been supporting her brother since both of their parents died. She said he would call her every day and in December 2019, the calls stopped completely.
“So, when he didn’t call me these days, I called everywhere and I called the guy we were paying and he said he wasn’t seeing him no more,” the distraught sister explained.
According to her, she was renting a room for him in North Ruimveldt, Georgetown; she was also paying a restaurant on Leopold Street for his meals. At the time Ricardo went missing, he was 36-years-old.
“His birthday was March 20, Christmas passed, he didn’t call, my birthday he didn’t call and I realise something was wrong,” Sophian said.
The sister never made a police report but she noted that she wrote several emails to government officials seeking help but there has been no response.
“It has been very hard not knowing where he is, knowing that there is no hope of him ever coming here, there is no possibility of me ever visiting Guyana,” Sophian said.
De France served time in prison for robbery and simple larceny in Guyana. Anyone with information that may lead to the whereabouts of Ricardo can contact at defrancesophian@yahoo.com.
