112 active COVID-19 cases; one person in ICU

Guyana now has 112 active COVID-19 cases countrywide after five new cases were recorded within the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

The new infections were recorded in Region Four (two cases), Region Nine (two cases) and Region 10 (one case).

And with these cases, the total number of confirmed cases since March 11, 2020 has increased to 63,223. Importantly, though, no additional deaths were recorded; as such, the overall death toll remained at 1,226.

There is only one patient receiving critical care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU); 12 people are in institutional isolation, 25 people are in institutional quarantine and 94 people are in home isolation.

Additionally, other 13 people who were infected have now recovered; a total of 61,890 recovered since March 2020.
