Local beautician Onika Pompey was on Wednesday released on $200,000 bail for allegedly making a derogatory post on her social media platform against singer and former Soca Monarch winner Kwasi ‘Ace’ Edmondson.

Pompey, 32, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Particulars of the offence alleged that Pompey between October 29, 2021, and November 8, 2021, made a derogatory post about Edmondson.

With no objection raised by the court prosecutor, the Chief Magistrate released Pompey on $200,000 bail.

She also ordered Pompey to report to the Gender-based Unit at the Brickdam Police Station every first and last Friday of every month.

The case was adjourned until April 27, 2022.
