Cops search house while occupant was not home, discover ganja

Police are in search of a man from Haslington, East Coast Demerara (ECD) in connection with the discovery of marijuana which they found while investigating a report of threatening behaviour.

A statement from Police Headquarters on Wednesday noted that following a report made by the man’s 24-year-old sister-in-law on Monday night, ranks of the Anti-Crime Patrol in Regional Division #4C went to his house at Haslington North but he was not home.

While there, the ranks began to smell ganja and a search was conducted during which the ranks found a blue metal barrel and six transparent Ziploc bags containing a quantity of marijuana on the veranda.

The search was conducted at around 23:00hrs while no one was at home and police did not say whether they had a warrant to do so.

The find was taken to the Cove and John Police Station where it was weighed and amounted to 1,280 grams (three pounds).
