Man gets $4,000 during armed robbery, released on $40,000 bail

A 24-year-old man was on Friday released on $40,000 bail for allegedly robbing another of $4,000 while being armed with a pair of scissors.

Miguel Blackman of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara appeared before City Magistrate Leron Daly and pleaded not guilty to the armed robbery charge.

Particulars of the charge alleged that Blackman on March 29, 2022, at Cornhill Street Georgetown, robbed Trevor Graham of $4,000. He armed with a scissor.

The father of three was released on $40,000 and ordered to return to court on May 13, 2022.

According to reports, the victim and Blackman are known to each other but they are not friends.

On the day in question about 10:30hrs, the victim was walking in the vicinity of the Timehri minibus park when Blackman allegedly came up to him from behind and pushed him into a bus.

Blackman reportedly pulled out a red handle scissor from his waist and pointed same at the victim and demanded his valuables.

He also pushed his hand into Graham’s left side pocket and took out the money.

Blackman then ran into a route 42 minibus which eventually came around the park and the victim saw him.

The man pointed Blackman out to the police and he was arrested. The police searched Blackman and only recovered $1,650.
