Boy, 16, stabbed to death in Albouystown

A 16-year-old boy, identified as Isaiah Smith, who resided at Lot 100 Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown, was allegedly stabbed to death by a 45-year-old man on Monday afternoon.

Police Headquarters reported that the fatal incident occurred at about 14:55hrs at Hogg Street and Independence Boulevard, Albouystown, Georgetown.

According to a police report, two eyewitnesses- aged 15 and 16 years old- told investigators that they, along with the now deceased youth, were sitting on a bench east of the older man’s dwelling.

The man reportedly asked them to move, but when Smith refused, he was slapped by the man. This led to an altercation.

Subsequently, the report related that the suspect then took a knife from his pants waist and stabbed the victim to the left upper abdomen. Smith reportedly ran a short distance on Independence Boulevard before he collapsed.

He was later taken to Georgetown Public Hospital by a taxi driver and a Rural Constable attached to Ruimveldt Police Station, and was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.

Smith’s body is presently at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the police report noted that the Crime Scene Unit ranks have since apprehended the suspect and the alleged murder weapon has been recovered.

The man has been placed into custody as investigations are in progress.
