Experienced golfer Brian Hackett edged out Englishman Tom Watkins and Captain Patrick Prashad to win the STP Investments Inc. golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf Course at the weekend.

Winner Brian Hackett (right) receives his top prize from David Harinarine of STP Investments Inc.

On a cool and rainy day, the competition was reduced to a nine-hole shootout, and it was Hackett, playing off a handicap of nine, who managed to finish ahead of the pile.

When the tournament ended in inclement weather, Hackett scores read Net 33 and Gross 42.

Watkins, with a handicap of two, recorded Net 34 and Gross 36 to take second spot, while Prashad, playing off a handicap of five, scored Net 34 and Gross 39.

William Walker (handicap five) took fourth with Net 35 and Gross 40.

Paton George was the Closest-to-the-Pin winner, while Rakesh Harry copped the award for the Longest Drive.

Project Manager of STP Investments Inc., a construction company, David Harinarine, stated that the establishment is keen on supporting sport and is proud to partner with the Lusignan Golf Club.

Because of the direction the game is heading in Guyana, Harinarine said the company is committed to future partnerships with the Golf Club.
