A 22-year-old woman of Seaforth Street, Campbellville, Georgetown was struck down by a driver who fled the scene on Tuesday night. The accident occurred at about 22:00hrs, Police Headquarters reported.
According to the report, the victim was walking from the western end of Sheriff Street heading east on the pedestrian crossing, when she was hit by a black motorcar. The car was proceeding north on Sheriff Street.
As a result of the collision, the victim fell onto the road surface and received injuries about her body.
She was picked up in a conscious state by a public-spirited citizen and transported to a private hospital in the city and admitted as a patient.
Investigations are ongoing.
