A 40-year-old Mahdia minibus driver identified as Nelvern Isaacs was arrested on Wednesday after ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) discovered 19.5 kg (43.1 pounds) of marijuana worth $6 million in the vehicle.
Five male passengers were also arrested during the intelligence-led operation carried out at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke Linden Highway, CANU said in a statement.
The minibus was transporting food supplies and was bound for Mahdia Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).
The illegal drugs were discovered in 19 parcels concealed in pieces of sponge.
