Man, 76, dies from COVID, nine new cases recorded

A 76-year-old fully vaccinated man from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) is recorded as Guyana’s latest COVID-19 death.

The Ministry of Health reported that the man died on Wednesday. This latest death takes the overall number of COVID deaths since March 2020, to 1, 228 and is also the second recorded death for April.

Meanwhile, nine new COVID-19 cases were recorded from 788 tests, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 63, 358.

The new cases were reported in the following regions; Region Two (one case), Region Three (one case), Region Four (six cases), and Region Nine (one case).

There is one patient in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 10 patients are in institutional isolation and 89 are in home isolation.

To date, 62, 030 people have recovered from the virus.
