COVID ICU remains empty third day in a row, 5 new cases recorded

Five people, who are all females, were infected with the novel coronavirus over a 24-hour period after 1,760 tests were done, the Ministry of Health reported in its daily COVID-19 dashboard on Tuesday.

Two new cases were recorded in Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) and Region Four (Demerara – Mahaica) each while one was recorded in Region Six (East Berbice – Corentyne).

Five persons have recovered from the virus, taking the overall recoveries to 62,054 while the number of confirmed cases in Guyana stands at 63,380 from a total of 585, 899 tests conducted to date.

Six persons are in institutional quarantine, 92 persons are in home isolation and six persons are in institutional isolation.

The death toll remained at 1,228 as no additional deaths were recorded and there are no patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for the third consecutive day.
