Finisher Dhoni to the rescue as Mumbai Indians remain winless
Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Thursday proved he still has the finishing touches, blasting 16 off the final four balls to spur Chennai Super Kings to a three-wicket win over Mumbai Indians, who have now lost all seven matches this season.
Facing up to Jaydev Unadkat, Dhoni struck 6,4,2,4 off the last four deliveries as Super Kings reached the target of 156 with seven wickets down.
Dhoni ended on 28 off 13 balls and Dwaine Pretorious made an important 22 off 14 after Ambati Rayudu topscored with 40.
Daniel Sams took 4-30 for Mumbai Indians, who were limited to 155-7 after being asked to bat first.
Mumbai were 2-2 with both openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan dismissed without scoring by Mukesh Choudhary, who followed up with the cheap dismissal of Dewald Brevis (4).
It took an innings of 51* off 43 balls from Tilak Varma, 32 from Suryakumar Yadav and 25 from Hrithik Shokeen to lift Mumbai Indians to a decent total.
Choudhary finished with 3-19.
IPL action continues on Friday with Delhi Capitals playing Rajasthan Royals from 10:00h.
