Mechanic, 62, killed in Mabura accident

Randy Lee, 62, a mechanic of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, was killed after he swerved from a pothole and lost control of the motor pick-up (GNN 3286) he was driving.

Police Headquarters reported that the accident occurred at about 14:30hrs on Monday along the #58 Mabura trail. According to the report, Lee was allegedly speeding at the time of the accident; the vehicle toppled several times before turning turtle on the road.

Several other persons involved in the accident were also injured. They have been identified as Bhisham Hiralall, 30, an auto electrician of No. 7 Village, West Coast Berbice; Bhoodnarine ‘Mookesh’ Ramgobin, a 41-year-old welder of Foulis, East Coast Demerara (ECD); Conrad Gibson, 55, a gold miner of Friendship, East Bank Demerara; and Jailal called ‘Naresh’, a 34-year-old mechanic of Supply Mahaica, ECD.

Lee was picked up in an unconscious state by public spirited citizens and transported to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the other occupants were treated and discharged.
