The Tucville Secondary school in Georgetown has been closed as the Ministry of Education investigates complaints of hazardous electrical issues at the school.

On Monday morning, as the new school term commenced, reports of electrical issues at the school surfaced online. Then, the phased return to full face-to-face classes was scheduled to begin across schools countrywide.

Because of the issues at the school, however, teachers and students remained outside of classes.

Subsequently, Public Relations Officer (PRO) at the Education Ministry Murtland Haley told members of the media that the issue would be investigated.

“The school will be closed until the building is thoroughly assessed and the matter is rectified,” Haley said in a WhatsApp message.

He added, “The teachers have agreed to work online until next Tuesday.”
