GPHC dismisses report of female patient being raped

The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) has dismissed reports of a female patient being raped after a surgical procedure.

The reports surfaced on social media on Wednesday.

“Based on our findings so far, the incident did not occur,” Head of Strategic Management and Communications, Chelauna Providence told the News Room on Thursday.

The News Room understands that following the surgery and after the patient’s sedation wore off, she reportedly discovered signs of sexual intercourse. But according to Providence, due to the procedure the patient underwent, there is “plausible” explanation for the claims.

“However, our investigations so far suggest that there are plausible medical reasons for all of the patient’s claims based on the procedure she had. We can also confirm that the patient was never left unsupervised post-surgery,” Providence contended.

Due to the sensitivity of the matter, Providence could not provide further details on the case.
