    Finally a win for Mumbai Indians as Rajasthan Royals stumble

    After a record eight defeats on the trot, last-placed Mumbai Indians finally got a win on Saturday, beating second-placed Rajasthan Royals by five wickets in Match 44 of the IPL.

    Set a target of 159, Mumbai Indians got home by five wickets with four balls remaining to register their first two points of the season. Rajasthan Royals’ third defeat in nine games kept them in second, behind Gujarat Titans.

    Suryakumar Yadav with 51 off 39 led the run-chase and was backed up Tilak Varma, who made 35 off 30. Ishan Kishan scored 26 off 20 and Tim David closed out the match with 20* off nine.

    Jos Buttler earlier continued his fine form, teeing off after a slow start to score 67 off 52 (5x4s, 4x6s) for Rajasthan Royals.

    Ravichandran Ashwin with 21 off nine was the only other batsman to get past 20. Riley Meredith (2-24) and Hrithik Shokeen (2-47) were the leading wicket-takers for Mumbai Indians.

    IPL action continued on Sunday with Delhi Capitals playing Lucknow Super Giants from 06:00h, followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad against Chennai Super Kings from 10:00h.
