IPL: Tewatia, Miller stun RCB as Titans stay at the summit

Gujarat Titans remained at the top of the IPL points table with their eighth victory in nine games, beating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by six wickets in Match 43 on Saturday.

RCB’s 170-6 proved just short in the end, as Titans got home with three balls remaining, thanks largely to stunning death over batting by Rahul Tewatia and David Miller.

The pair blazed an unbeaten 79 off 6.4 overs to overcome RCB, who were taking control of the match at 95-4 after 12.5 overs.

Tewatia struck five fours and two sixes in 43* off 25, while Miller ended on 39* off 24 (4x4s, 1×6). Shubman Gill made 31 off 28 and fellow opener Wriddhiman Saha 29 off 22, as Shahbaz Ahmed took 2-26 and Wanindu Hasaranga 2-28.

Earlier, Virat Kohli, opening the batting, topscored with 58 off 53 for RCB after the early loss of skipper Faf du Plessis without scoring.

Rajat Patidar made 52 off 32, while Glenn Maxwell struck 33 off 18. Pradeep Sangwan took 2-19.

IPL action continues on Saturday with Mumbai Indians playing Rajasthan Royals.
