A 20-year-old female teacher who police identified as Chrisann Alleyne of Tuschen New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, was robbed on Friday at about 12:45 hrs while she was walking home from school.

The robbery was executed by two identifiable men, one of whom was armed with a knife.

Police said the woman was relieved of one black HP laptop and bag valued at $55,500: an iPhone XR valued at $100,000; a Samsung J5 phone valued at $32,000; a wireless ear piece valued at $10,000; a brown purse value at $1,000; a gold chain valued at $110,000 and $30,000 cash.

According to the Alleyne, she was walking home along Greenman’s street when a black heavily-tinted car bearing registration number #PSS 3230 stopped next to her.

She said an identifiable male exited the front passenger seat and approached her with a knife.

The criminal then relieved her of the mentioned articles. He then walked away towards the waiting car and the woman said she followed him while pleading with him to return her items but to no avail.

The teacher said the front passenger door of the vehicle was opened and she identified the driver of the vehicle to be another male.

The two men escaped in the vehicle after which the woman made a report to the police.

Checks were made for the two suspects and later a 27-year-old man of Grove, East Bank Demerara was seen driving the same car and was intercepted by the police.

He was arrested and the car was lodged at the Leonora Police Station.
