Two persons are trapped and feared dead after a tug capsized Friday night in the Canje Creek, according to Regional Commander Boodnarine Persaud.
He has since confirmed that the incident occurred east of the Canje Creek (not far from the Canje Bridge).
The News Room understands that members of the coast guard and a diver are presently at the location actively trying to retrieve the bodies.
Persaud said that while efforts were made Friday night to rescue the trapped persons, there were difficulties due to the strong current in the water.
