“If you understand the arrow of time, and the arrow of time is saying that there is a lot more to come, it means that you dig in, you double down.”
That was the salient message of Sport Minister Charles Ramson Jr. during his feature address on Sunday evening at the opening of Space Gym 2.0 at the Orchid Garden Hotel and Shopping Mall on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.
Commending the CEO Sergio Matos and Managing Director Lucas Matos for their “bold” investment in the modern gym, Ramson Jr. touched on the economic opportunities that are being created through the burgeoning oil and gas sector and the need for investors to seize the moment.
“My presence here is more than just opening up a gym,” he said.
“It is a belief in an overall vision that is bold, that requires the doubling down today and now and understanding that there is a big vision for all of us, individually and collectively,” the Sport Minister declared.
“I would like to wish you Sergio and Lucas all the best in your gym and all of your business investments, your bold ideas and doubling down today and I would like to encourage everyone to seize the opportunity now.”
Ramson Jr. also highlighted that he was particularly impressed with the management of Space Gym for their attention to detail, and consistency in maintaining a high standard.
The Minister posited that it is important that the culture of a high standard is embraced by the wider populace in a new and emerging Guyana.
‘Dedicated to your Health’
Managing Director Lucas Matos told the gathering that Space Gym 2.0 was birthed in 2018, to build on the successes of the first branch at Croal Street that was opened in 2016.
With the most modern equipment at this new location, Space Gym 2.0 will offer customised nutrition programmes, meal plans and products in addition to workout routines, in line with its motto, ‘Dedicated to your Health.’
“We believe that this facility is something the people of Guyana deserve. We have the conviction that people need a new experience, one that is dedicated to your health,” Matos said.
“This is an environment where you should not be afraid to push your limits, so you can achieve your desired goals.”
General Secretary of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, Dravid Dharamdeo, declared that Space Gym has been raising the bar since 2016, priding itself on excellence, innovation, modern equipment and technology.
“The enhancement of Space Gym will no doubt contribute significantly to better the health of the Guyanese public.”
