‘Fineman’ stabbed to death, suspect hospitalised

A man identified thus far as “Fineman” was Friday evening stabbed to death by another during a drinking spree at Rose Hall Town, Corentyne Berbice.

The suspect, identified as Anthony Cameron called ‘Anta’, is hospitalised under police guard at the New Amsterdam Hospital after sustaining a stab wound to the neck and abdomen.

An eyewitness told the police that he had just bought two bottles of Guinness and was standing on Maycock Street, Rose Hall Town when the victim approached him and asked for $100.

According to the eyewitness, shortly after Cameron approached and began to argue with the victim during which he (Cameron) pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim to the chest.

The victim collapsed and Cameron jumped on his bicycle and said he was going to file a police report; he did not sustain any injuries at that time.

The police arrived shortly after and escorted the victim to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

However, while at the hospital, Cameron showed up in company of a relative with a stab wound to the neck and the abdomen. He was subsequently admitted to the accident and emergency unit of the hospital.

The News Room understands that while at the hospital, Cameron told police that the victim stabbed him.

Cameron was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he is admitted in a serious condition.

Meanwhile, residents in the area disclosed that the two men were fighting over a female.
