BFA launches Bartica Men’s Senior League; kick-off set for May 15

“It’s time for Bartica to have football on the go, bigger and better and here is where we start that journey. The Bartica Football Association tonight is officially launching the Bartica Football Association Men’s Senior League and we’re looking forward for a great and exciting league of football.”

Those were the words of Alden Marslowe, the President of the Bartica Football Association (BFA) in his opening remarks at the launch of the BFA Men’s League 2022 in the Bartica town council boardroom on Friday evening.

Marslowe apart, present at the launch were Regional Chairman, Mayor Gifford Marshall, other members of the association’s executive body, Lyndon France, who came in the capacity of Guyana Football Federation’s Technical Support Officer to the BFA, Referee in charge of Bartica Referee Council Leon Stewart, members and representatives of the nine clubs that will be part of the League and Delroy McIntyre, the administrator of the Bartica Sports Direct page.

France outlined the rules and regulations and also handed over fixtures of the League. He also mentioned that he was pleased to see the turnout of representatives from clubs that will be participating in the League.

France added that the Guyana Football Federation is on a path to taking Guyana’s football to another level and the responsibility is on local clubs to play their part in the process.

He spoke of the need for clubs to be punctual, organised and ready for the upcoming tournament.

To ensure clubs are quipped to compete, the BFA presented balls, bibs and cones to representatives present.

The participating teams are Rivers View FC, Ballers FC, Rising Stars FC, Lazio Untied FC, Agatash United FC, AK Galaxy FC, Beacon United FC, Potaro Strikers FC and Wolves United FC.

The League is set to start on May 15 and will be played at three venues, namely the Bartica Community Centre Ground, Rivers View Sports Ground and Dogg Point Playfield.

At total of 36 matches will be played during the competition, which ends July 2.
