Four persons in COVID ICU as cases continue to rise

There are now four patients receiving critical care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), one up from the three persons reported by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday.

This is so even as the number of new COVID-19 infections have been climbing over the past few days.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health reported 56 new COVID-19 infections via its daily COVID-19 dashboard. These new cases were recorded after 1, 356 tests were done.

The new cases were recorded in Region Two (four cases) Region Three (two cases), Region Four (42 cases), Region Six (six cases) and Region Nine and Ten (one case each).

This takes the total number of cases recorded locally to 63,684.  Importantly, though, no additional deaths were recorded. As such, the overall death toll remained at 1,228.

There are six patients in institutional isolation 195 people in home isolation.

With seven new recoveries, the total number of people who recovered after they were infected increased to 62, 251.
