The Guyana Harpy Eagles’ final Four-Day practice match has begun to show promising signs with both batsmen and bowlers reaching significant landmarks at the National Stadium, Providence, on Wednesday.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul carried his 139* to 163, Tevin Imlach grafted for 55 and pacer Ronsford Beaton took 5-60, for a match tally thus far of 8-101 from 28.1 overs, on his comeback journey.

Chanderpaul’s XI resumed on 245-5 and took that total to 346 all out in 98.4 overs, as Kevin Sinclair, who started the day on one, made 33 (5x4s; 1×6) and Gudakesh Motie 31 (4x4s; 1×6).

Seamer Joshua Jones took 3-35  and off=spinner Junior Sinclair was yet again among with the 2-49 while Keemo Paul had 1-18.

In pursuit of 264, Leon Johnson’s XI lost Chandrapaul Hemraj (4) with the score just on five, and Johnson (18) along with Imlach, added 47 for the second wicket until Kevin Sinclair dismissed the skipper for 18.

Partnerships started but none materialised into a substantial stand as leg-spinner Steven Sankar nipped out Imlach after he faced 108 balls and struck six fours.

Paul made 21 (3x4s; 1×6) from 12 balls while Anthony Bramble (20) offered support to Clinton Pestano who is unbeaten on 34 (3x4s; 3x6s) from 20 balls.

The action resumes Thursday from 10:00h and this match serves as a vital preparation method before the Harpy Eagles return to Trinidad and Tobago for the remaining three rounds of the Regional Four-Day Championship from May 18.
