Police are on the hunt for three bandits who attacked and robbed a 46-year-old businessman in front his Fourth Street, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara house on Thursday night.
Police Headquarters reported that the businessman was robbed of $400,000 in cash and two Samsung Galaxy cell phones valued at $120,000 at around 20:45hrs.
According to the police, the victim went to a supermarket in Cummings Lodge to purchase goods and upon returning home, he exited his car to open the gate when a silver-coloured Premio vehicle drove up and stopped right beside his car.
Two males – one dressed in a red hoodie and the other in a grey hoodie – exited and instructed the victim to go back into his car and he complied.
The perpetrators then searched the victim and took the phones and some cash; they then ransacked the car and removed more cash that was in the middle compartment of the car.
After robbing the businessman, the two perpetrators along with the driver of the Premio escaped.
Investigators are set to review CCTV cameras in the area.
