Thakur Rajnarine, a motorcyclist of Sheriff Street, Georgetown, succumbed to injuries he received in an accident involving a 13-year-old pedestrian on Wednesday.
Rajnarine died at the Georgetown Public Hospital while undergoing emergency treatment at about 22:10hrs on Wednesday, Police Headquarters reported.
The accident occurred on Mandela Avenue within the vicinity of the Botanical Gardens in Georgetown at about 16:30hrs.
According to the police report, Rajnarine was driving motorcycle CJ 4459, proceeding south on the eastern lane when he collided with the pedestrian who was crossing the road from west to east.
“As a result of the collision, both the motorcyclist and the pedestrian fell onto the road surface where they received injuries about their bodies,” the police said.
They were both picked up by public-spirited citizens and were transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The pedestrian was treated and sent away, while Rajnarine was admitted to the emergency unit with head injuries.
Investigations are ongoing.
