Mason shot to abdomen, cops looking for suspect


Police are on the hunt for a man who reportedly shot 44-year-old Kevin Phillips, a mason of Melanie, East Coast Demerara to his abdomen on Friday.

Police Headquarters reported that the shooting incident occurred at about 22:20hrs at Bachelor’s Adventure, ECD.

Phillips had to undergo surgery at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

According to the police report, an eyewitness claimed that he was driving south on Bachelor’s Adventure Middle Road when he saw Phillips sitting on the western side of the road on a culvert.

“The eyewitness further stated he then saw the male suspect ran up to the victim and pointed what appeared to be a handgun, and he heard a single loud explosion, suspected to be a gunshot,” police said.

The suspect then fled the scene in a western direction.

Phillips was then rushed to GPHC by the eyewitness.

Police investigations are ongoing.
