Riveting Magnum Independence Cup semi-finals on tonight

Two titanic clashes will highlight the semi-final round of the Magnum Independence Cup on Saturday evening (May 14), as defending champions Bent Street take on Sparta Boss, and Gold is Money go up against Back Circle at the National Park tarmac.

Organiser of the tournament Edison Jefford said, “Tonight will determine who has the right to contest for the coveted title in the Magnum Independence Cup. We have witnessed tremendous quality and support from the teams, and supporters in this edition so I envision a riveting and thrilling night of action commencing from the plate section into the semi-final round. May the best team win.”

Bent Street overcame Melanie 5-4 in the quarter-final to set up a date with fierce rival Sparta Boss, who made light work of Future Stars 9-0.

On the other hand, Gold is Money overcame Showstoppers 9-7, while Back Circle needled North East La Penitence 4-3.

The winner of the tournament will receive G$700,000, and the championship accolade, whilst the runner-up will pocket G$400,000 and the corresponding trophy. The third and fourth place finishers will pocket G$200,000 and G$100,000 respectively.

Meanwhile, the four losing quarter-finalists will contest the Magnum Plate Championship. The eventual winner will walk away with G$40,000. Melanie will tackle Future Stars at 19:00h, while North East La Penitence will battle Showstoppers from 19:30hrs.
