Two days after 30-year-old Kevin France reportedly fell overboard during a mishap in the Canje Creek, his body was recovered on Monday.
The body of the Ulverston Village, Corentyne, Berbice, man was discovered by police ranks floating in the Canje Creek.
The dead man’s uncle, Joshua Tyndall told the News Room that following the boat mishap in the creek, relatives had hired a boat to search for him.
According to Tyndall, the body “was already starting to smell” and it was taken to a funeral home on the West Coast of Berbice for an autopsy to be conducted.
France fell overboard after the boat he was in with four others capsized in the Canje Creek on Saturday at about 10:30hrs.
He had gone to make checks on someone’s cattle but during the boat ride, two other boats passed and created huge waves on the water resulting in the mishap.
The four others managed to swim to safety, but France never made it.
