Driver, 62, injured after truck topples in North Pakaraima

A 62-year-old driver is hospitalised at the Georgetown Public Hospital after the truck he was in toppled downhill in North Pakaraima, Region Eight.

Dalip Singh of Shell Road, Kitty, Georgetown was driving the truck (GAB 5892) laden with goods and fuel when he lost control. Police Headquarters reported that the accident occurred at about 16:00hrs on Friday last along the Tuseneng Road in North Pakaraima.

According to the report, Singh was proceeding east along the road which was reportedly wet and while climbing a steep hill, he reportedly lost control and toppled.

Police said he was seriously injured and was picked up by public-spirited persons and taken to Tuseneng Health Center. He was later referred to the Mahdia District Hospital and on Monday he was medivac to GPHC.

His condition is regarded as serious but stable.
