Medical student beaten, robbed of car at gunpoint

Police are on the hunt for three bandits who beat and robbed a 47-year-old medical student of his silver-grey Allion car (PNN 2975) worth $1.3 million; his pink iPhone 7 and $40,000 in cash.

The robbery occurred at around 00:30hrs in the vicinity of Ascension Primary School, Ice House Road, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

Police identified the victim as Ikechukwu Otiko, a medical student of Rajiv Gandhi University of Science and Technology.

According to the police report, the victim was working as a taxi driver when he picked up one of the perpetrators at Survival Supermarket on Sheriff Street.

The perpetrator requested to be taken to Ice House Road; upon arrival, he was confronted by the two other perpetrators, who came on foot from an unknown direction.

The victim claimed that the bandits, who were all armed with guns, demanded that he exit the car; a scuffle ensued and one of the perpetrators beat him to the face with the gun.

They managed to get the victim out of the car and escaped with it in an unknown direction.

Detectives are reviewing CCTV cameras.
