Schultz powers Demerara to 179-run win over Select XI

All-rounder Kaysia Schultz starred with bat and ball to spur Demerara to a massive 179-run victory over the Select XI on Thursday when action continued in the Guyana Cricket Board’s Female Inter-County 50-over competition at the National Stadium, Providence.

Batting first, Demerara posted 276-7 from the allotted 50 overs, before the bowlers combined to dismiss the Select XI for 97 in 26 overs.

Schultz, batting at number six, topscored with 63 off 76 balls (5x4s) and was one of three players to score half-centuries.

Lashana Toussaint made 60 off 78 (7x4s) and Kavita Yadram 52 off 56 (5x4s), while Extras contributed a healthy 46.

Bowling for the Select XI, Niveena Ramnauth picked up 2-39 and Haseena Mohamed 2-45.

Left-arm spinner Schultz then picked up 3-12 off seven overs as Demerara skittled out the Select XI for 97. Heema Singh (2-10), Shemika Edwards (2-17) and Mandy Mangru (2-24) were also among the wickets.

The competition continues on Friday with Demerara playing Essequibo at the National Stadium, Providence.
