    Two women – a 37-year-old from Region Six (East Berbice – Corentyne) and a 79-year-old from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) – have died from COVID-19.

    The Ministry of Health on Friday reported that both women died on Wednesday and their vaccination status is unknown.

    These latest deaths mean that a total of three persons have died this month and 1, 231 persons have died since this pandemic hit these shores in March 2020.

    Meanwhile, 92 new cases were recorded from 1, 037 tests, taking the total number of confirmed cases to, 64, 174.

    The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region Two (four cases), Region Three (seven cases), Region Four (56 cases), Region Five (five cases), Region Six (17 cases) and Region Ten (three cases).

    There are two cases in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 25 patients are in institutional isolation and 504 are in home isolation.

    To date, 62, 412 people have recovered from the virus.
