Businessman dies following seizure at gas station
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 66-year-old Hamid Sharriff, a businessman of Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara.
Police Headquarters in a statement on Friday revealed that Sharriff suffered a seizure at the Rubis Gas Station on the Rupert Craig Highway on May 26 at around 13:40hrs.
According to the police report, the man and his wife had left home in their Toyota Tundra vehicle and proceeded to the gas station to fuel up.
There, he suffered a seizure while in the driver’s seat
“It was also revealed that, prior to the seizure attack, the deceased had a history of travelling with ‘high cholesterol and a heart-related condition,” the police report noted.
An ambulance was immediately summoned to the scene and the man was pronounced dead by Doctor Singh at about 14:00hrs.
The body is presently lying at the Jerrick’s Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy and according to the police, no marks of violence were observed on his body.
