Teenager arrested after hiding ganja in KFC cup
An 18-year-old man of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was arrested by police officers on Friday, after he was caught attempting to discard 40.32 grams of suspected cannabis hidden in a KFC-branded cup.
Police Headquarters reported that at around 19:00 hrs on Friday, ranks of the Sparendaam Police Station were on patrol duty in the vicinity of Prince William Street, Plaisance when they observed the teenager standing with a KFC branded cup in his hand.
According to the police report, the teenager dropped the cup and ran away when he saw the cops but he was later caught by the police and the cup was retrieved by the ranks.
When searched, a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found inside the cup. The 18 year-old denied ownership of the drug.
He was subsequently arrested and taken to the Sparendaam Police Station where the suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence and amounted to 40.32 grams. He remains in custody pending charges.
