Two women nabbed with ganja at Parika

Two women, aged 18 and 52, were arrested on Friday after they were nabbed with 34 grams of marijuana during a cordon and search exercise by law enforcement authorities at the Parika junction, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).

Police Headquarters reported that ranks from the Parika police station and Parika’s Community Police Group (CPG) conducted a search at the shop of the 52-year-old self-employed woman of Retreat Road.

During that search, several ziploc plastic bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was found on the shop counter.

An 18-year-old woman, who resides at the same address and was at the shop at the same time was also searched; a black plastic bag containing several ziploc plastic bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found in her bag.

They were both arrested and escorted to the Parika police station along with the suspected narcotics.

The narcotics found on the 18-year-old were weighed in her presence and it amounted to 29.04 grams, while the narcotics that found in the shop of the 54-year-old amounted to 5.27 grams.

Both women were placed into custody, pending investigations.
