Guyanese Gajanand Singh stroked a quick-fire half-century on Saturday to help USA to a thumping 104-run win over Scotland in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.

The left-hander, batting at number five, stroked 60 not out off just 39 balls in just his third ODI as USA posted an imposing 310-5 and then limited Scotland to 206.

The 34-year-old Berbician struck eight fours and one six in his maiden ODI fifty to back up opener Sushant Modani, who made 77 off 92. Also among the runs for USA were Steven Taylor (42), Aaron Jones (35) and Nisarg Patel (34*).

Adrian Neill took 2-49 for Scotland, who never really challenged the huge target. Player-of-the-Match Saurab Netravalkar led USA bowling with 5-45 and Patel took 2-26.

George Munsey topscored for Scotland with 54 and Calum MacLeod made 40.

The victory was USA’s eighth in their 17th game in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2. They are fourth on the points table.
