Man arrested with $3M worth in ganja

Ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Thursday arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with the discovery of 9.8kg (22 lbs) of cannabis.

A press release from CANU noted that its ranks intercepted the car driven by Raymond Tinnis on the Mahaica Public Road, East Coast Demerara.

A search of the vehicle revealed a parcel containing suspected cannabis in the vehicle’s trunk.

Tinnis, along with the suspected narcotics, were escorted to CANU Headquarters where the illegal drug tested positive for cannabis.

CANU noted that the marijuana has a street value of approximately GY$3 million.

Investigations are ongoing.
