West Indies white-ball captain, Nicholas Pooran, has indicated that all-rounder Keemo Paul will join the squad for the three One-Day Internationals against Pakistan in Multan.
The first match is on June 8 from 07:00h (Guyana time).
Speaking at a virtual briefing on the eve of the first ODI, Pooran revealed that no player is injured, but given the extreme heat in Multan, they opted to select the in-form Paul as cover given the adverse conditions.
Paul last featured in an ODI in February 2020 against Sri Lanka and has not played for West Indies since November 2020 due to injury.
In the just-concluded Regional Four-Day Championship, the all-rounder was the leading seamer with 20 wickets and from observation, looked fitter and very pacey in his aggressive spells.
The 24-year-old had related to News Room Sport in a recent interview that a return to the maroon colours was on his radar and it is the reason he worked overtime to regain a high level of fitness and consistency.
After these three ODIs, the West Indies return home for a packed schedule with tours from Bangladesh, India and New Zealand.
Full squad: Nicholas Pooran (capt), Shai Hope (vice-capt), Nkrumah Bonner, Shamarh Brooks, Keacy Carty, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Shermon Lewis, Kyle Mayers, Keemo Paul, Anderson Phillip, Rovman Powell, Jayden Seales, Romario Shepherd, Hayden Walsh Jr.
