Businessmen robbed of millions in cash, valuables; three arrested

Four gunmen stormed a birthday party at La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara (ECD) at about 01:30hrs on Wednesday and robbed several businessmen of millions of dollars in cash, jewellery, laptops and phones.

Police have so far managed to arrest three of the suspects and recovered some of the stolen items after one of the victims tracked his phone to an abandoned house in Plum Park, Sophia, Georgetown. The three suspects were arrested in Melanie, ECD.

The businessmen and articles stolen are as follows:

1. Michael Kunjbehari, 36, of Georgetown to was robbed of two laptops valued at $200,000, $1.2 million in cash and his ID card.

2. Robin Satrohan, 32, of Georgetown was relieved of $500,000 cash and a Samsung Galaxy S10 valued at $50,000.

3. Thirty-year-old Ryan Jahurali of Diamond, East Bank Demerara was robbed of his Samsung Note 20 Ultra valued at $250,000 and $200,000 cash.

4. Everton Singh-Lammy, 36, of Georgetown was relieved of a gold ring valued at $500,000, a Samsung Note 20 Ultra valued $330,000 and $170,000 cash.

5. John Ali of Georgetown was robbed of a Black strap bag valued $700,000, a diamond ring valued at $4 million, a white gold chain valued $400,000, a Samsung 22 Ultra cell phone valued at $300,000, and $1.5 million in cash.

6. Mario Joseph, 31,was robbed of $50,000 cash.

7. Ramsammy (only name given), a 27-year-old Canadian citizen was relieved of his gold chain valued at $1.1 million, a gold ring valued at $32,000, a red wallet containing his Canadian driver’s license, ID card and bank card, and $63,000 in local currency.

8. Qnthony Joseph, 32, of Georgetown was robbed of his iPhone 13 valued at $300,000.

According to the police report, the gunmen entered through the backdoor of the house the party was being held at and relieved the victims of the items mentioned above.

The men then escaped in a waiting car.

After one of the victims tracked his phone, a red Digicel bag was found containing two laptops belonging to Michael Kunjbehari, the Samsung S10 belonging to Robin Satrohan, the Samsung Note 20 Ultra phone belonging to Everton Lammy and an iPhone 13 belonging to Anthony Joseph along with the ID card was recovered.

“The said bag was taken to the BV Police Station where it was photographed and dusted for finger prints,” the police said.

Meanwhile, the suspects were also positively identified by the victims.

Police the area was canvassed for CCTV cameras as investigations are ongoing.
