Man, 71, dies from COVID; 138 new cases recorded

A 71-year-old fully vaccinated man from Region Six (East Berbice – Corentyne) is Guyana’s latest COVID-19 death.

The Ministry of Health reported that the man died on June 07, taking the total number of deaths since March 2020 to, 1, 239.

The ministry revealed that the man took his first booster dose; his death also represents the second one for June.

Meanwhile, 138 new cases were recorded from 1, 293 tests, increasing the overall number of confirmed cases to, 65, 560.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region Two (44 cases), Region Three (20 cases), Region Four (56 cases), Region Five (one case), Region Six (five cases), Region Seven (seven cases) and Region Ten (five cases)

There is one patient in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 27 patients are in institutional isolation and 988 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 63, 305 people have recovered from the virus.
