Police have been called in after a student of the Lodge Secondary School was found with an air gun inside his backpack on Thursday morning.
Public Relations Manager of the Education Ministry, Murtland Haley, confirmed to the News Room that the police is handling the matter with the Grade 11 boy and his parents.
It was only on Wednesday that teachers of the school complained about the prevailing issue of gangs at the school and being threatened on a daily basis by students.
After teachers walked out of the school on Wednesday, the Education Ministry intervened and a meeting was held with the teachers.
One of the immediate measures implemented at the school following the meeting is to search students’ bags upon entry.
