A young man from Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was shot and killed by the police Friday afternoon in neighbouring Haslington.
He has been identified as Quindon Bacchus who is in his 20s.
Police Headquarters said ranks on patrol saw Bacchus with a firearm, and as they approached him, he fired at the police.
“The police responded by returning fire,” the brief police report noted.
According to the police, a .380 pistol, one live round and one spent shell was recovered at the scene.
The suspect was injured in the process and taken to the hospital.
Family members confirmed that he has since succumbed to his injuries.
