Bartender, 20, remanded for murder of East Ruimveldt woman

A 20-year-old bartender was on Friday remanded to prison for the murder of Carol Davidson, who was attacked and fatally stabbed during an altercation in the vicinity of Brickdam Secondary School Bridge, East Ruimveldt.

Shamirika Gibson of North East La Penitence Squatting Area appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Gibson was not required to plead to the capital offence which alleged that on June 6, at East Ruimveldt, she murdered Davidson, a 21-year-old security guard.

Magistrate McGusty remanded Gibson to prison until June 21, 2022.

According to reports, Gibson and Davidson are known to each other but were not on speaking terms. It is alleged that on June 6, the women were involved in an altercation.

The following day, at about 10:00hrs, Davidson was imbibing with a group of friends in the vicinity of Brickdam Secondary School Bridge when Gibson and three others allegedly entered the yard and attacked her with several pieces of wood.

A scuffle ensued during which Davidson was attacked and allegedly stabbed by Gibson, who was armed with a knife.

Davidson, who had a stab wound in her chest area, was subsequently found lying face down on the ground.   She was picked up in an unconscious state and immediately taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
