Police ranks on mobile patrol at Parika Beach, East Bank Essequibo arrested a 24-year-old woman Friday night after she was found in possession of 28 grams of cannabis.
The ranks arrested the woman at about 19:30 hours; they were reportedly acting on information when they went to the beach and saw the woman.
The ranks approached her and requested to conduct a search of a purse she was carrying.
During the search, a bulky plastic bag containing a quantity of seeds, leaves and stems suspected to be cannabis was found, the police said.
The woman, under caution, told the ranks she purchased the ganja from someone at De Kinderen, West Coast Demerara.
She was arrested and taken to the Parika Police Station where the cannabis was weighed and amounted to 28.17 grams.
