Men posing as passengers rob women in minibus

Two men posing as passengers robbed four women in a route 31 minibus on Sunday while on Lombard Street, Georgetown.

Police said the incident occurred at about 12:51hrs; the suspects joined the minibus at Goed Intent, West Bank of Demerara.

“One of them was sitting in the conductor seat assisting with opening and closing of the door,” the police said.

While in the vicinity of Leopold and Lombard Streets, the suspects asked to be put off and while exiting one of the suspects pulled out a gun and pointed it at the four passengers.

Police said while the suspects were escaping, they discharged a round at the minibus. The bullet hit the front left passenger door.

Police ranks from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) recovered three 9mm spent shells from the scene.

A 23-year-old woman of Goed Intent, was robbed of $15,000 cash and an LG smartphone valued $30,000.

A 39-year-old woman of Belle West, Canal No. 2, WBD was relieved of $30,000 cash and a Samsung smartphone valued $44,000.

A 20-year-old woman of La Grange, WBD was robbed of her gold chain valued $50,000 and $30,000 cash and a 54-year-old woman of Sisters Village, WBD was robbed of her Samsung smartphone valued $20,000 and one pair of eyeglasses (spectacles) valued $50,000.
