Region Four man is latest COVID death, 34 new cases

A 77-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) is the latest COVID-19 fatality, the Ministry of Health reported on Monday.

The unvaccinated man died on June 12, taking the country’s death toll to 1, 240.

Meanwhile, 34 new cases were recorded from 344 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 65, 926.

The new cases were recorded in Region Two (seven cases), Region Three (two cases), Region Four (13 cases), Region Six (one case) and Region Ten (11 cases).

There are two patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 27 patients are in institutional isolation, six patients are in institutional quarantine and 951 are in home isolation.

To date, 63,706 people have recovered from the virus.
