Two business owners and a bus driver were reportedly robbed by seven men at gunpoint of their smartphones, jewelry and $600,000 in cash.

The incident occurred at the corner of Leopold and High Streets in Georgetown on Sunday at about 08:15hrs.

Police Headquarters in a statement revealed that the three victims were purchasing food when the suspects approached them.  Police said two of the suspects were armed with guns.

The suspects allegedly pointed the guns at the victims and demanded that they hand over the items.

A 50-year-old Chinese businessman of Cemetery Road, East La Penitence, Georgetown was robbed of his iPhone valued at $250,000, his driver’s license and $600,000 in cash.

Meanwhile, 30-year-old businesswoman of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo was relieved of her gold chain valued at $300,000; the 42-year-old bus driver of Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara was robbed of his Samsung smartphone valued at $90,000.

Police said the suspects escaped on a motorcycle and three BMX bicycles east on Leopold Street.

    Police investigations are ongoing.
